Castleford - Gilbert & Sullivan Society

Welcome to the Castleford Gilbert & Sullivan Society. We are a bright and friendly group of people of all ages and backgrounds who meet regularly at 7.30 on Thursday evenings at The Henry Moore J & I School, Ashton Road, Castleford.

At present we have about 40 members and more of all ages are always welcome. Whether you want to sing, perform or get involved ‘behind the scenes’ at our shows and concerts, it’s a great way to meet new friends and be caught up in the infectious buzz of stage and song.

Still Singing Strong and with a Smile

Yes, it’s 36 years since our first ever concert and, as the saying goes, “Smile and the world smiles with you”

Last year I was presented with a lifetime achievement award for my services to music and the arts, in and around the area. This year it gives me even greater pleasure, as your President and Guest Conductor, to welcome you all to our new year.

Our Spring Concert at the Castleford Civic Centre on 5th April will feature many of the happy and lighthearted favourites from the Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas.

The Gondoliers our October Show at Pontefract Town Hall is a tale of Venetian love, intrigue and happiness. I am sure it will bring a smile of enjoyment to everyone who comes to our performances.
I look forward to seeing you all throughout the year and I hope you enjoy our Society, Our Concerts and our Show...Thank you all and have a happy new year.
